As you enter your question, our massive, TARDIS-sized computers will search out other similar questions. So be sure to check the list that pops up before asking your question. Once you've decided that your question has not been asked before, push the not-so-threatening blue button to your right.

Note: The Doctor Who Answers Wiki is aware of the leak of the scripts for the first few episode of Series 8 of Doctor Who. Do not ask questions about the scripts, and do not post any information from them anywhere on this website. Any attempts to upload the scripts, or in any way spoil these upcoming episodes, will result in your IP/Account being permanently banned from Doctor Who Answers. Thank you.

Note 2: This is also true for episodes which have officially aired on the World Tour. Until they've been released in a form available to the general public (in other words, 23rd August for "Deep Breath"), episodes are covered under DWA:FUTURE and may not be asked about, and information from those episodes are considered spoilers and will be met with deletion.

Why Does Ace call the 7th Doctor "Professor" and not "Doctor"?

It's just a nickname, as of course is "Ace". It presumably refers to his extensive knowledge. Ace used nicknames often, calling Mel Bush "Doughnut", for example. At the end of Dragonfire, the Doctor told Ace, "I'm the Doctor, not the Professor," but she continued to use "Professor". She also called him "Doctor". She seemed to use "Doctor" when a real name would be appropriate, such as when introducing him to others, and "Professor" when a nickname would be appropriate, in private or casual conversations.
